Tim Fontenot
I have been licensed to work in the financial planning field since 1998. However, my interest in financial planning began earlier when I was studying income taxation and financial accounting as an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to sparking my interest, those two disciplines greatly enhanced my understanding of and expertise in financial planning.
My financial accounting background gives me the ability to interpret and digest the abundance of investment literature and data that is an everyday part of financial planning. Because the Internal Revenue Code mandates how investment gains are either currently taxed or deferred, defines the taxation of insurance proceeds, defines types of retirement plans and the associated rules for establishing, funding, and withdrawing, my background in taxation gives me the ability to understand those mandates.
In addition to my technical expertise I am a natural problem solver and teacher. I enjoy working with individuals and families and helping them navigate through financial planning choices and decisions. I find that collaboration is most effective and I approach each opportunity with a servant leadership mindset. This is a style that I learned and perfected while studying for my MBA at the University of Dallas. Although I have a general approach I understand that individuals and families are unique. Therefore, I tailor my approach to your needs and goals and adapt as these change.
